Process An oxidation process where the surface undergoes controlled oxidation to provide a hard, corrosion resistant surface finish that can also be stained for colour.
Stengths Factory controlled process.
Wide range of colours available
Weaknesses Changes metal dimensions, so allowances need to be made where fine tolerances are used.
Threaded holes require re-tapping. Colour matching is difficult.
Only works on aluminium.
Durability Repair is not possible, when the coating is consumed, the substrate starts to corrode.
Cost £1000-2000 per sq metre
Health and Safety Factory controlled process, usual factory issues.
Environmental Few environmental issues.
