Technical | Methods of Coating | Anodizing
| Process | An oxidation process where the surface undergoes controlled oxidation to provide a hard, corrosion resistant surface finish that can also be stained for colour. |
| Stengths | Factory controlled process. Wide range of colours available |
| Weaknesses | Changes metal dimensions, so allowances need to be made where fine tolerances are used. Threaded holes require re-tapping. Colour matching is difficult. Only works on aluminium. |
| Durability | Repair is not possible, when the coating is consumed, the substrate starts to corrode. |
| Cost | £1000-2000 per sq metre |
| Health and Safety | Factory controlled process, usual factory issues. |
| Environmental | Few environmental issues. |
