Additional Benefits of Using Highland
As well as providing objective coatings information and comparison, the purpose of this guide is to demonstrate the advantages of powder coating, and of the technology, specialisation and experience of Highland as an approved applicator.
Highland specialise in the application of powder to hot dip galvanized mild steel fabrications. All powder coat processes are administered in accordance with the relevant standards: BS EN 13438: 2005 for galvanized steel; BS EN 12206, or BS6496 for aluminium.
Of the leading powder suppliers, the most widely known is Akzo Nobel who supply the Interpon product brand. Unlike other suppliers, Akzo Nobel operates an approved applicator scheme, which is vigorously audited and checked against the BS on an ongoing basis. Test panels from our plant are tested at their own facility, as well as ongoing site audits for procedure and conformity. There are only a handful of UK applicators approved for powdercoating on galvanized steel.
Furthermore, for steel, as the two coat galvanizing and powder coating process is applied by the same company, at the same location, through a ‘one stop shop’ approach there are no issues with identifying responsibility. In addition logistical and handling issues are improved as a result.
In summary:
- APPROVED APPLICATOR for the application of polyester powder coating on galvanized steel
- Only approved applicator on steel, working in full accordance with both ISO 1461:1999 and BS EN 13438:2005
- As a consequence of being an approved applicator, we are able to offer both powder and application guarantee up to 25 years
- As a benefit from the above the powder application will be tougher and more impact resistance than any other comparable solution
- Due to the hot dip galvanized undercoat, the structural integrity of the steel components is likely to exceed 75 years before first maintenance
